If you're in a hurry:

  • Launch expected on February 18, 2026, with a starting price of €499 (possible promotion matching 256GB to 128GB pricing).
  • Ships with Android 16 and promises seven years of OS and security updates.
  • 6.3-inch Full HD+ OLED display with 120Hz refresh rate, Gorilla Glass 7i and IP68 rating.
  • Powered by the Tensor G4 chip with 8GB of RAM and 128/256GB of UFS 3.1 storage.
  • 5,100mAh battery with up to 45W wired charging and wireless charging support.
  • 48MP main camera with OIS, 13MP ultrawide lens and strong AI-powered image processing.

On the eve of its official unveiling, scheduled for February 18, Google’s latest midrange smartphone has already been dissected in remarkable detail. The Google Pixel 10a, the company’s most affordable entry in the Pixel 10 lineup, appears set to follow a familiar formula: modest design changes, targeted hardware improvements and a renewed emphasis on software longevity.

If the leaks circulating in recent weeks prove accurate, the device will not attempt to reinvent Google’s approach to the midrange market. Instead, it refines it.

A Strategic Price Point

Google is expected to introduce the Pixel 10a at a starting price of 499 euros in Europe for the 128-gigabyte model, with some reports suggesting a launch promotion that would offer the 256-gigabyte version at the same price. Other sources point to higher regional pricing, underscoring the uncertainty that often surrounds pre-release information.

For context, last year’s Google Pixel 9a debuted in Italy at 549 euros. If the lower figure is confirmed, the new model would represent a rare price reduction in a segment where costs have generally crept upward.

The “A-series” has long served as Google’s answer to consumers who want a clean Android experience — uncluttered by heavy manufacturer overlays — without paying flagship prices. The Pixel 10a appears poised to continue that tradition.

Seven Years of Software Support

Perhaps the most consequential promise concerns longevity. The phone is expected to ship with Android 16 and receive seven years of operating system and security updates — support extending through 2033.

That commitment places the device alongside many premium smartphones in terms of lifecycle. In a market where midrange models often receive only three or four years of updates, extended support has become an increasingly important differentiator.

Familiar Design, Subtle Refinements

Visually, the Pixel 10a is unlikely to depart dramatically from Google’s recent design language. The horizontal camera bar — now a recognizable hallmark of Pixel phones — remains, though reports suggest it will sit more flush with the rear panel to reduce wobble when the device rests on a flat surface.

The handset is expected to measure roughly 153.9 by 73 by 9 millimeters and weigh 183 grams, making it slightly more compact than its predecessor. The display will be protected by Gorilla Glass 7i, and the device is said to carry an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance — a feature not always guaranteed in this price range.

Color options reportedly include Obsidian (black), Fog (a pale white-green), Lavender (blue-purple) and Berry (a pinkish red).

Display and Performance

The Pixel 10a is expected to feature a 6.3-inch OLED display with a resolution of 2424 by 1080 pixels and a refresh rate of up to 120 hertz. That combination — Full HD+ resolution paired with a high refresh rate — has become a benchmark for upper midrange smartphones, offering fluid scrolling and improved responsiveness without excessive battery drain.

Powering the device will likely be Google’s in-house Google Tensor G4 processor, accompanied by the Titan M2 security coprocessor. The Tensor line is less focused on raw benchmark performance than on machine-learning tasks, including real-time language processing, image enhancement and on-device artificial intelligence features.

The expected configuration includes 8 gigabytes of LPDDR5X RAM and either 128 or 256 gigabytes of UFS 3.1 storage, without microSD expansion. Connectivity options should include Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 6.0, NFC, USB-C and dual SIM support (nano-SIM and eSIM).

Battery and Charging Improvements

One of the more notable upgrades concerns battery life. The Pixel 10a is said to house a 5,100-milliampere-hour battery — the largest ever in an A-series Pixel — with wired charging speeds of up to 45 watts, a significant increase from the 23 watts offered by the previous generation.

Wireless charging is also expected to remain part of the package, though precise specifications have not yet surfaced. Together, these changes suggest that Google is responding to long-standing criticism about comparatively slow charging speeds.

Satellite-based emergency calling is also anticipated, expanding connectivity options in areas without traditional cellular coverage.

Photography: Software Over Specs

The camera system is expected to closely mirror that of the Pixel 9a. On the rear, a 48-megapixel main sensor with optical image stabilization and dual-pixel autofocus will be paired with a 13-megapixel ultrawide lens offering a 120-degree field of view. A 13-megapixel front-facing camera will handle selfies and video calls.

Video recording is expected to reach 4K at 60 frames per second, with slow-motion capture at 1080p up to 240 frames per second.

As with previous Pixel devices, Google’s emphasis appears to be less on increasing megapixel counts and more on computational photography — leveraging software and machine learning to improve dynamic range, low-light performance and color accuracy.

The FaceTime Question

A line in promotional materials referencing the ability to “keep video calling, even with FaceTime,” has generated speculation. The reference does not imply native integration of Apple’s service into Android devices. Since 2021, users on Android and Windows have been able to join FaceTime calls via web links, though they cannot initiate calls directly.

The wording seems aimed at reassuring potential switchers from iPhone rather than signaling a formal partnership.

A Calculated Update

Taken together, the Pixel 10a appears to be a careful, incremental update rather than a dramatic overhaul. It strengthens areas where Google has faced criticism — charging speed, durability and long-term support — while maintaining the core elements that have defined the A-series: a clean Android experience, capable cameras and competitive pricing.

Whether it becomes one of 2026’s most compelling midrange smartphones may ultimately depend on its final price. But if the reported figures hold, Google’s latest A-series device could once again make the case that longevity and software polish matter as much as headline-grabbing specifications.
