Sony has announced the PlayStation Plus Essential lineup for February 2026, confirming a selection of four games that will be available to subscribers on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. The offering, revealed through the company’s official PlayStation Blog, reflects a familiar strategy for the service: prioritizing variety over blockbuster appeal, and aiming to serve players with markedly different tastes.
The most prominent (and most debated) title in the lineup is “Undisputed,” a boxing simulation developed by Steel City Interactive and published by Deep Silver, available exclusively on PlayStation 5. The game had been widely rumored in advance following a leak by a well-known industry insider, and its official inclusion has prompted mixed reactions. Upon its release in October 2024, “Undisputed” received a lukewarm critical response, with reviewers praising its commitment to realism and official licensing, including the World Boxing Council, World Boxing Organization and International Boxing Federation, while criticizing its technical polish and overall refinement. Its arrival on PlayStation Plus appears less like a victory lap and more like an attempt to broaden its audience.
Alongside it is “Subnautica: Below Zero,” available on both PS4 and PS5. A standalone expansion to the original “Subnautica,” the game shifts the series’ underwater survival formula to a frozen region of the alien planet 4546B. Compared with its predecessor, “Below Zero” places greater emphasis on narrative structure and guided exploration, while retaining the slow-burn tension and environmental storytelling that made the franchise successful.
The third title, “Ultros,” is a smaller but more stylistically distinctive inclusion. This action platformer blends science-fiction imagery with a psychedelic visual identity and metroidvania-style progression. Combat, exploration and a cyclical approach to growth are paired with an unusual emphasis on atmosphere, making it one of the more experimental games in the month’s lineup.
Rounding out the selection is “Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown,” available on PS4. Released in 2019, it remains one of the most acclaimed entries in Bandai Namco’s long-running aerial combat series. Its inclusion functions both as a standalone action offering and as a reminder of the franchise’s relevance, particularly in light of the already announced sequel, “Ace Combat 8.”

Taken together, the February lineup is notable less for headline-grabbing releases than for its breadth. Sports simulation, survival adventure, experimental indie design and high-intensity aerial combat coexist in a single month, underscoring Sony’s continued effort to position PlayStation Plus Essential as a general-interest service rather than a showcase for prestige titles.
All four games will be available to claim from February 3 through March 2, 2026. Once added to a user’s library, they remain playable for as long as the subscription is active.
At the same time, several games are expected to leave the PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium catalogs during February, including “Cult of the Lamb,” “Rez Infinite,” “The Ascent” and “WWE 2K25,” among others: a reminder of the service’s rotating nature and the importance of timing for subscribers.
PlayStation Plus is Sony’s subscription platform for PlayStation consoles, offering online multiplayer access, monthly games and additional benefits depending on the tier. The Essential plan, priced at €8.99 per month in Europe, provides the monthly titles and core online features, while the Extra and Premium tiers expand the offering with larger game libraries, classic titles and cloud streaming.
For February, at least, PlayStation Plus delivers a month that is more deliberate than flashy; one that may not define the service’s future, but continues to illustrate how it balances experimentation, legacy franchises and second chances for divisive releases.
