YouTube has just launched YouTube Recap, its first-ever personalized year-end summary, letting users revisit their favorite moments, channels, and content from 2025. Following in the footsteps of Spotify Wrapped and Apple Music Replay, YouTube is entering the world of personalized annual roundups, but with a twist: instead of a global Rewind, this recap is all about you.
So, what's this YouTube Recap?
YouTube Recap is a personalized summary based on your watch history. The feature creates up to 12 interactive cards showcasing your favorite channels, top genres, and even how your viewing habits evolved over the year. In addition to videos, Recap highlights music too: you can see your top artists and songs and explore genres, podcasts, and international listening trends through the YouTube Music app.
Personalities and Awards
One of the most fun aspects of Recap is the personality cards, which assign each user a type based on their viewing habits. Among the 14 personality types, the most common are:
- Sunshiner: drawn to positive, uplifting content
- Wonder Seeker: loves awe-inspiring and extraordinary videos
- Connector: enjoys content that sparks conversation and builds community
Other personality types include the Adventurer, Skill Builder, Dreamer, and Philosopher, with some being rarer than others. Recap also gives a fun, shareable award based on your watch history, designed to be playful and social-media-ready.

How to Access YouTube Recap
To view your Recap:
- Have an active YouTube account and meet the minimum age (13+) and watch history requirements.
- Access your Recap via the homepage or the “You” tab on mobile and desktop.
- For music, check your Recap through the YouTube Music app.
YouTube Recap is available in 17 languages and in over 185 countries. It launched in North America on December 2, 2025, with a global rollout scheduled for later this week.
From YouTube Rewind to Personalized Recap
YouTube Rewind, first launched in 2010, was an annual video summarizing the platform’s biggest viral moments. In 2020, YouTube decided to discontinue Rewind, citing that a single video could no longer reflect the diversity of its community. YouTube Recap represents a shift: no more global highlights, just a personalized celebration of your 2025.
Top Trends of 2025
Alongside your personal highlights, YouTube also revealed the top trends in the U.S.:
- Top Creator: MrBeast
- Trending Topics: Squid Game, Roblox, KPop Demon Hunters
- Top Song: Bruno Mars, Lady Gaga – “Die With A Smile”
- Top Shorts Song: Forrest Frank – “YOUR WAY’S BETTER”
- Top Podcast: The Joe Rogan Experience
A Fun Way to Relive Your Year
YouTube Recap is more than just a summary—it’s a way to relive your passions, discoveries, and favorite moments from the year. Whether you spent 2025 watching travel vlogs, DIY tutorials, or music videos, now you can see it all in one place and share it with friends and followers.
In short, YouTube Recap turns your year in video into a personalized experience, celebrating not only what you watched but who you are as a viewer.
